What Brick by Brick is
Brick by Brick is a desktop application that helps family-history hobbyists research their ancestors. Your family-tree files stay on your own computer; when you run an AI-assisted analysis, the relevant details are sent to our server and to third-party AI services to produce your research report.
Your account
An account is identified by your email address and accessed with an account code we email to you. Keep the code private — anyone with it can use your account. One account per person; the free trial is one per email address.
Plans and payment
Paid plans are monthly subscriptions sold through our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle, which handles payment, applicable taxes, and billing support. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from inside the app — see the Refund Policy for refunds.
Each plan includes a monthly allowance of "credits". Unused monthly credits carry over to the following month up to a capped amount, shown on the pricing page. Credits bought as a one-off bundle do not expire, and your monthly allowance is always used before them.
The price of a plan, the price of a credit bundle, and the number of credits a piece of research costs may change over time. What the app can do depends on AI services we buy from others, and their prices and capabilities change as new models are released — sometimes cheaper, sometimes more expensive. If a subscription price changes we will tell you before it affects you, and you can cancel rather than accept it. Credit costs shown in the app are always the current ones: the app quotes the cost of a piece of research before you start it, and that quote is what you pay for that run.
Fair use
Use the app for personal family-history research. Don't attempt to bypass usage limits, share one account across many people, resell the service, or use it to harass others or violate any law.
About the research results
The app's reports are research suggestions produced with the help of artificial intelligence. They can contain mistakes — a suggested record, archive, or family link may be wrong. Always verify suggestions against the original records before adding them to your family tree. The service is provided "as is," without warranties, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the app evolves; meaningful changes will be announced in the app. Questions? Email luc@mudcreeksoftware.com.
